How to supercharge your job hunting process
The cliche “getting a job is a job itself” is in fact, truth in itself.
This is because a successful career does not happen by accident and mere wishes. Most of the clear and successful career you see today were well planned and are not a product of “afterthought.”
It is therefore important that you learn how not only to get a job fast, but also to get a good job fast while still building your career path you want.
In a recent survey, it was gathered that it takes an average job seeker 6-9 months to land their first job. This is pretty long time to wait.
My job in this post is to share some tips with you on how you can bypass this process so you can gain a competitive advantage in your job hunting and career.

1. Be clear on your career path
The first most imporyant thing you need to know if you reaaly want to get a job fast is to be able to sincerely answer the question “what job would I love to do?”
This can be like a tough question especially in an ever changing and dynamic world that we find ourselves in. But this is why you need to be clear enough in your answering the question.
Most people gable with their career by taking up just any job that comes their way, applying for jobs that they neither have any idea about nor are passionate about. This is a real recipe for disaster!!
2. Take up an internship position
One way to really cut down the time you spend in job hunting is to take up an internship position. Internship is the process of work experience offered by a company for a period of time.
Internship is usually a two way street which gives it lots of advantages both the company and the job seeker. Internship allows people to work for them in exchange for gain of experience and compensation. The internship period is actually the time for the job seeker to really find out if they career path they chose is actually what they want to do. For example, assuming you want to build a career like as a HR expert, you could intern in an HR company to see what the career is all about, learn about what HRs do every day, and finally be able to make up your mind in that career as the path you really want to pursue. But do you know the most interesting thing about interning is the moat mot half of the time, the intern are usually offered permanent placement at the company they intern with.
3. Build relevant skills
What skills do you need for your dream job? Some of the major challenges I face ever day is interviewing people for the role they are not qualified for, said one of the recruiters.
Yes! As a younf graduate, you may not have all the expreince required for the job you want but what about acquiring the most possible little skills? How many of them domyou have?
In this age and time where competition is growing stronger by the day for jobs, you need to be very good in small skills that are needed in almost every company and organization. Simple skills you can pick up include knowing how to use excel or knowing how to use tools of the trade in your desired industry.
How can you get started learning the skills?
- Go to linkedin (get one if you do not have any)
- Input your profession in the search box
- Click on three of the profiles linkedin is showing you
- Go through the experience section of each of the profile
Note down “tools”, “skills”, and “task” they perform every day
These skills and tools are they things you need to learn in order to perform well at your job role. Not surprisingly, these same characteristics are what a potential employer is looking for. Learn and master them.
4. Dust you CV
CV’s are not overrated in technology age, no!!!
Bad CV will not get you an interview opportunity and sometimes that is all you need. it is well established that recruiters spend less time than 60 seconds looking at your CV before deciding if you are a good man fit for the job or not. This is because recruiters are trained to look for certain things in your CV.
The major challenge is that most CV’s are not designed to attract the attention of the recruiter and therefore even a “qualified” or “good candidate” can get passed over if they have a bad CV.
